Default Dish question

Re my earlier Sky box Q I have decided to go for a Humax 500GB Freesat box - thanks for the helpful advice.

Now the dish. Could I get away with mounting the dish in the loft if I use a zone 2 dish?
I am in North Surrey so a zone 1 dish should work when mounted outside.
Will the increase in gain between a zone 1 and 2 dish make up for the signal absorption due to timber and red tile roof?

Can anyone suggest any cheap dish kit suppliers in or around Surrey / London that I could pick up from? or alternatively a mail
order supplier.

Thanks

It is not just the absorption, it is the noise that is radiated. The
sky at satellite frequencies is less than 10K. The front end probably
increases that quite a bit, but not to the 300+K of a loft roof in the
Summer.

My gut feeling is, unless you have a radome panel in the loft (which may
be against building regs) there is no hope.

If they are still going Spectrum in Croydon - bought my first setup from
them 15 years ago.

Thanks

Screwfix and B&Q have them - nothing clever is needed.

There are disguised dishes available but none are cheap

If you can, simply mount a dish at ground level and surround 3 sides
of it with shrubs, etc.

You can certainly store the dish in loft.

Four side of it. The signal comes down at an angle.
