Default changing time

Currently I'm using tivo without a cablebox because the response time is
slow with the IR blaster.

I'm thinking of changing cable service to acompany (Time Warner) that
requires you to use the cable box since most channels are scrambled. I
believe they use the Scientific Atlanta 2100 box. (I'm in NY, if anyone
out there knows differently, please post something).

Does the 2100 have a serial interface, or will I have to use the IR
blaster? What's teh response time to the serial or ir blaster interface
with this cable box?

Thanks.

Cox uses these in Las Vegas. You will need to use the IR transmitter, but
at medium speed it's been fairly reliable for me. (The only thing that
keeps stuff from getting recorded is a firmware update that shuts off the
box without switching it back on. Fortunately, that's not a regular
occurrence.)
