Default Lip Sync problem on recorded programs?

My TiVo, series 2 seems to have a slight lip sync problem. The picture is
about 1/8 second different than the picture. I am relatively new to TiVo,
and have been lurking here for a while and haven't seen this subject. Is it
particular to my unit, and is there anything I can do about it?

thanks for the response... all good ideas... I guess it could be that the
program I was watching when I saw the problem was beamed to me that way thru
DirectTV... but don't remember that happening pre-TiVo... Oh well, another
program I watched last night wasn't so bad. Who knows...

Since no one who might know has said anything , I will chime in. You
might check the routing of your cables to see if the sound or video might

be
delayed because of their routing. Possibly prior to recording or during
playback. It wouldn't seem something with short cables would cause a
problem like this, but who knows. I don't have a TIVo (waiting for the HD
version), so there may be a know problem that might be on their site. And
maybe, like computers, there is a firmware update that could help.

I am waiting today for the DirectTV guy to set up my Tivo.

But I have noticed occasional lip sync problems on DirecTV and beore I
got it on antenna broadcast TV (since I teach and have students who edit
videos I am probably more sensitive to it -- my wife never notices--but
it is a commonly seen problem by me after poor editing).

I can't remember what show bothered me last week but which one was
giving you trouble?

You know, I'm not sure, but I think my wife was watching an old episode of
"McMillian and wife" when I walked by and immediately noticed it. You're
right... some folks don't seem to notice it as much as I do. Drives me
crazy. By doing some looking today, it looks like it's more likely the
channel / program on DirectTV than the TiVo.

With old TV programs, it's probably an artifact of time compression on
the program rather than something Tivo did.

When I first got my Tivo series 1, there was a problem where I would
start seeing synch problems on the speech after the unit had been on
for a few weeks. The fix was to unplug the Tivo unit, wait a couple
of minutes and then restart it. Then it wouldn't do it for a while.
