Default Samsung UE32ES5500.

I'm sorely tempted by this offer, especially as it comes with a five year
warranty, does anyone here own one, if so what are your impressions?

Samsung UE32ES5500 LED HD 1080p Smart TV, 32 Inch with Freeview HD.

I have had a similar Samsung TV for the past 15 months which has been
fine. I bought it from a web site where it was very much cheaper than in
John Lewis. I don't have a five year warranty!

According to JL web site the spec. says :
"Great for sport - NO"

That's got me puzzled!

Is that because Plasma is better for fast-moving images (such as
sport) and LED for scenery?

I see Richer sounds are doing it at the same price and also with a five
year warranty so it looks like Samsung have it on 'push' at the moment.

It does look like a very nice set but I am frustrated by the lack of any
analogue audio out, the comparable Panasonic TX-L32E5 is the same,
digital audio out or nothing. I'm sure there are converter boxes out
there but otherwise what are we to do, dump our peripherals, junk our
amps and buy overpriced (and likely underspec'd) replacements?
Rhetorical of course, it is of course the intention that we buy 'fully
compatible' branded replacements..

Got me puzzled too. Makes one suspect that people have been returning
TVs as unsatisfactory.

I haven't noticed any 'sport motion' issues with my 32 inch LCD Sony
compared with my two neighbours' plasma Panasonics.

The plasma TVs on JL's site state 'Great for Sport Yes,
but this criteria is not present on some plasma TVs.

Regarding LCD/LED some are 'YES' and some are 'No'. Doesn't seem to
depend on price. Some (e.g. LG 37LM620T LED) are just confusing:

'Great for movies and TV, it comes into its own for fast moving action
like sports and videogames. '
followed several lines later by 'Great for Sport No'

There is an analogue output via the Headphone socket. Don't be put off
by the fact that it is labelled "headphone". It can be used to feed an
external amp.

Thanks for all the comments, one further query, in the specification section
which asks.. "PC Input - Can a computer be plugged in? - Answer 'No".. I'm
presuming that what they mean is that it can't wirelessly access and play
files from my computer, as I can do with my Humax Fox T2 receiver, and not
that it can't be used as a monitor via one of the HDMI sockets, something I
already do with my ancient Lexor?

That's about it. "Can a computer be plugged in? - Answer 'No'" means
that it doesn't have a socket for a VGA plug.

This is the sort of cable that the TV doesn't have a socket for:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/vga-monitor-...-to-male-97367

This is the standard PC to monitor connection that existed before HDMI
was invented.

Sadly (on the Sammy):
"While the headphones are connected, the sound from the built-in
speakers will be disabled."

Even though they are tinny l quite like having balanced sound from both
internal & external speakers.
