writes And where do the EBUget the dosh? Brian The "Big Five", who are the countries who as a result of paying most towards it, go straight into the final. GB wouldn't ever be in the final otherwise. -- Ian |

It's heavily sponsored too, though all of that is hacked and blanked out of the programme for UK consumption by the Beeb. Despite the proportionately larger contribution the BBC pay (mentioned by another poster) it still remains an incredibly cough cost effective way for the Beeb to fill three hours of peak time BBC 1. Per min, it's probably cheaper than Frozen Planet, Hustle, Strictly Come Dancing, etc. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |

Isn't it 9 hours or didn't the BBC show the semi finals? Oh yes, I forgot about about those, (so easy to) they were tucked away on BBC 3, therefore probably making them BBC 3's most expensive programming; ever. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |

UK should have gone for basing contributions on GDP and not population, as is used in other international organisations and agencies of which UK is a member. Yes, it would then be cheaper every year. -- Ian |
