I have no interest in football but do enjoy cycling events like the TDF and athletics. I think the viewing experience in HD would be enhanced. This is the first time I've ever considered getting a dish. Tim Brian |

"Ian" wrote in message ... In message , Mick. writes "Bill Wright" wrote in message ... Freesat announce an additional 24 channels of HD for the Olympics Dear Humax user, Freesat have announced they will carry all of the BBC's 24 live HD Olympic channels throughout the London 2012 Olympics, offering the full range of live BBC Olympics coverage, bringing every Olympic sport from every Olympic venue. In addition to the 24 temporary BBC HD Olympics channels listed in the Freesat TV Guide, Freesat viewers will also be able to access the live 'streams' via the BBC Red Button service. As long as your unit is left in standby at night (not powered off or left on) your unit should pick these channels up automatically, or alternatively you can manually retune when they are launched. Hi all, As a Freeview user who is not interested in any sport, am I free from any auto updating of my Humax HDR-FOX T2 The latest software seems to support auto updating? Mick. As "Freeview" user, the extra channels on "Freesat" won't be available to you. -- Ian Hi Ian, Yes I did realise that but was wondering "if" there were any plans to add them to Freeview too? If there was I would most likely re load the previous software so my Humax cannot add them on its own As it is reported that the latest software can do a rescan on its own if new channels are added. Mick. |

Mick. wrote... Yes I did realise that but was wondering "if" there were any plans to add them to Freeview too? Wot about SD Olympic channels on Freeview for us poor folk wiffout flash tellys. We want topless beach volleyball too. The second BBC red button channel - 302, which was lost when the HD trials started ages ago, reappeared on the BBC mux from Sandy Heath a couple of days ago. Currently it is just carrying a caption saying: "BBC Red Button During the London 2012 Olympic Games extra action will be available via the Red Button from BBC TV channels" -- Ken O'Meara http://www.btinternet.com/~unsteadyken/ |

Pre DSO there were 5 analogue channels plus (at main transmitters) 6 MUXes. Post DSO there are just 6 MUXes, which leaves 5 unused frequencies - either those used either by the old analogue channels or, where a MUX moved to the frequency previously used by analogue, by the pre-DSO MUXes. |

I wonder if the 4G LTE thing might be an idea?. Now that I presume is going to be IP protocol based?. And it will be a Two -way service, base to mob and mob to base as it were. So start converting the rest of Band 4 and 5 to IP based then everything can run over the spectrum radio, TV, Internet, phones the works. Why keep all of that spectrum for one way comms?.. -- Tony Sayer |
