Freesat announce an additional 24 channels of HD for the Olympics
Dear Humax user,
Freesat have announced they will carry all of the BBC’s 24 live HD
Olympic channels throughout the London 2012 Olympics, offering the full
range of live BBC Olympics coverage, bringing every Olympic sport from
every Olympic venue.
In addition to the 24 temporary BBC HD Olympics channels listed in the
Freesat TV Guide, Freesat viewers will also be able to access the live
'streams' via the BBC Red Button service.
As long as your unit is left in standby at night (not powered off or
left on) your unit should pick these channels up automatically, or
alternatively you can manually retune when they are launched.

What about Freesat doing more ordinary programs in HD, CH Five would be a
good start.
I do feel let done by Freesat in choice of HD, not helped by their crazy
program numbering either. (108, 109, 119, 126, and 209)
Regards
David

As a Freeview user who is not interested in any sport, am I free
from any auto updating of my Humax HDR-FOX T2
The latest software seems to support auto updating?

I think, they will also have 'real' EPG positions to enable recordings to be set ?

Phew - just checked and these will be available on Virgin Cabler as well
Which means there is one less reason to leave the satellite dish up in a
temporary location whilst the back of the house is ripped off and replaced.
Depending on us getting Olympic fever, of course :-)

Surely true Olypmic enthusiasts will not need them -- they will just record the
whole transponder stream 24/7 on multiple PCs with multiple DVB-s2 cards and PVRs.

The only problem is, will the Olympics start on time when all the teams are waiting
for days to get through Immigration Control at Heathrow Airport?

And then there is the impending water shortage making them all have to use
standpipes in the Olympic Village ...

As "Freeview" user, the extra channels on "Freesat" won't be available
to you.
