No, honesty, it's very understandable.

Poeple lead such sheltered lives that even if it's been shown to them
repeatedly on television they still don't get the idea.


Then perhaps we shouldn't shelter them so much?

As a youngster a friend of mine removed a motorcycle petrol tank, emptied
it, closed it and walked through the house to his workshop at the back.

The pilot light from the gas stove 6 feet away was enough to ignite the
fumes and he suffered extensive burns as the tank exploded like a bomb.

More recently while on my way to work at a hospital in the snow at a steady
25 mph, I was overtaken by a large American car doing at least 60, a
suicidal speed in the conditions. Sure enough, a mile further on I found the
car wrapped round a tree and a group of concerned locals checking out the
occupants and calling ambulances. I went on to work and later met the female
driver. I asked why she was going so fast in the snow and in a Florida
accent she replied " Nobody tole me the Goddam stuff was slippery." I kid
you not.
