Hi,
As a newbie I hope I'm not asking something that has been discussed before. I have a 32" Grundig Lenaro which freezes since the digital switchover. I understand it's something to do with the new signal and not technically Grundig's fault, but does anyone know how to deal with it? I've had to retune and cut a load of channels off the list just to stop it freezing up which is obviously unsatisfactory. Thanks TonyB |

If not, are the elements of your aerial vertical or horizontal, in and which direction does it point? -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

Sounds like the following to me. This is from the London Crystal
Palace DSO doc, but the same or very similar text is in all the DSO docs: """ Early TVs may not store all channels Following Freeview’s latest network changes there are now potentially more than 100 services for Freeview TVs, boxes and recorders to handle. There can be more than this, if homes also receive extra signals due to transmitter overlaps. The National Retune of 30 September 2009 revealed some older cathode ray tube Freeview TVs (many being 2k-only models that will cease to work at switchover) that cannot store one or two of the available services due to memory constraints. For some products, over-air software updates were broadcast last year to reallocate memory in the model but some homes missed these. Where no updates are available, the use of the “manual retune” or “favourites” options can enable the viewer to select the channels they definitely want, and discard those they are not interested in. Thanks for that but I don't think that's the issue. It's not a CRT, it's an
LCD and can store at least 99 channels. The tip about the tuner being overloaded may be valid though and as soon as my chest infection is better I'll nip into the loft and bypass the amplifier. Yes, that's another point made in the same document:
""" Amplifiers may need to be removed When transmission powers increase, homes with aerial amplifiers could experience service loss or picture and sound disturbance due to the DTT receiver’s tuner being overloaded. Old aerial amplifiers with poor filtering could also cause video/ audio synchronisation problems where the receiver trying to read noise as a DTT signal. Removing the amplifiers should rectify both issues. """ BTW, *PARTICULARLY* after a chest infection, be sure to wear a mask when working in a loft. The dust from the rock fibre commonly used for loft insulation can cause lung disease. Thanks Java,
I'll take that advice! TonyB "Java Jive" wrote in message ...
