That's 24 channels of boring crap that most people don't care about.

But these are the Greater London Olympics so it will be considered the
patriotic duty of all loyal subjects of Her Britannic Majesty to watch
as much BBC coverage as possible.

Brenda and Dave will be doing their part: are you prepared to do yours
in your country's time of need?

PS Have you ordered the bunting and flags yet (which can be re-used for
the Olympic celebrations) in case of shortages closer to the time?

Hmm.

"these are the first truly digital Olympics"

I see. Were Olympic athletes in the past lacking full sets of fingers
and toes?

If everyone I meet who is thoroughly fed up with Olympics really does either
leave the country or not watch TV while its on, then the country should be
empty and lots of people will be out getting a lot of excercise. Actually
what will happen I'm sure is that if something is on, people will watch it
no materhow boring and pointless it is.

Olympics I can watch some, leave some. What really gets me out on my
bike taking advantage of the deserted streets are football world cups!

UK peak viewing for the last Olympic Games was 3.5 million AFAIR

Presumably you mean for live events - from Beijing in the middle of the night?

A quick check shows 12 programs in the BBC 1 top 30 over the 3 weeks, all 12
exceeded 4m, with a peak of 6.01m on Tuesday 19 August [BARB website].

Most of those programs (except Opening & Closing ceremonies) were evening
highlights packages.

Just clarifying '12 in top 30' - w/e Aug 10 (2 programs), w/e Aug 17 (4), w/e
Aug 24 (6), IE it's a weekly top 30.

Daytime/evening events in 2012 will have considerably higher figures.
