Default C4 HD AWOL on Freesat?

Hi all!

I just tried to tune my PC in to C4 HD using WinTV 7 and a Hauppauge
DVB-S2 card. Just got a black screen. Nothing else.

I've tried BBC 1 HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD and NHK HD and they're just fine,
both before and after doing a retune.

Have they done something stupid, like going encrypted again?

TIA!

I've just fired off a recording of the current Alan Carr program, and it
looks ok ... well the adverts do anyway ...

I'm getting C4 HD on my Humax Freesat box.

It's at 11126, V, 22000, 2/3.

The signal strength is shown as 100% (whatever that means).

Thanks guys. I'll try updating Win TV as soon as the Hootenanny's
finished recording.

My first two recordings of Stephen Hawking turned up blank! The third is
OK as are all other times I've recorded/watched C4 HD.

Thanks again all.

It appears that C4 HD has recently changed its satellite config in
some way which WinTV couldn't handle. It needed an additional line
adding into a couple of sections in satellite.xml, followed by a
rescan.

It moved to Astra 1N near the end of November, so if your software only
re-scans known transponders that would probably explain it.

Incidentally keep your editing skills of that XML file up to date
because over the next year I would expect a lot more services to
be moved to Astra 1N on new transponders and new frequencies.

Capacity was lost at 28,2 East when Astra 2C was first moved
to 31,5 East to replace the failed Astra 5A. Subsequently
Astra 3B was launched successfully into service at 23,5 East,
and Astra 1G moved from there to 31,5 East and it was decided
to then move Astra 2C to 19,2 East.

Then in 2013, if Astra 2E is successfully put into position at
28,2 East there will again be a shuffle with services moved from
Astra 1N to Astra 2E, and then Astra 1N will be moved to 19,2 East
to replace the ageing Astra 2C.

So as you can see from the above, although the satellites are
in geostationary orbital, they are often moved from one orbital
position to another and services shuffled from one satellite
to another.
