Default Ross SD kit for F1 next year / Panasonic Freesat HD TV

I've got a Panasonic Freesat HD TV, working fine. To supplement my
BBC rations of F1 next year I've taken advantage of the B&Q £25 deal
on the Ross dish / STB etc.

I was wondering what the best way would be to switch between the two
dishes when I get the second one installed:-
- just use the STB provided by the B&Q kit
- somehow merge the downleads from both dishes into one cable to feed
into the back of the TV
- plug / unplug the right cable when I need to switch

I've heard about "diseqc" but my limited understanding seems to be
that the Panasonic TV doesn't support it.

Cheers for any help!

Is it known on what bird the non-BBC races will be yet, and whether
they'll be FTA HD?

possible, if you've got an HDMI input spare on the TV

- somehow merge the downleads from both dishes into one cable to feed
into the back of the TV

not possible (ignoring stackers, which is probably the best thing to do
with them from what I've read).

- plug / unplug the right cable when I need to switch

messy, TV would probably need a full wipe/scan each time.

Dunno about that TV, but if you can't see any settings for diseqc
switch/LNB ports in the TV, sounds like that's out too.

Surely you could just manually add the relevant station? The fact
that it is unavailable when the freesat dish is connected, and vice
versa, shouldn't matter.

I'm reasonably sure that that would be possible. I can't see the TV
losing all of its settings just because I've unplugged the satellite
cable and replaced it with a different one.

Is there no manual box for doing this? Can't believe there isn't a
manual "select dish" switch, though I admit I've not found one
trawling the web (possibly as I don't know the product name that I
might be searching for!)

As for plugging the provided SD box into the TV, that's trivial as I
believe the box is a scart one (no need for HDMI as it is SD only),
and even if it were HDMI I have a spare slot available.

I was just hoping that there might be a slightly neater solution out
there somewhere.

I hadn't seen the calendar before ...

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2011/11/2...f1-races-2012/

SO, why did the BBC do such a big feature of the new USA track a few
weeks ago, when they won't be showing that race?

Because a) it looked cool and b) at that time they thought the race
would actually be happening (which it now isn't). I also think that
Red Bull set up the promotional filming etc, as the video which the
BBC showed was lifted straight from a red bull promo that I'd seen a
few weeks earlier via the Red Bull website (I think).

And in any event, next year the beeb would be showing highlights of
all GPs, so (if the race was going to be taking place at all) they
would have shown something of it, and sent a team over there to cover
it.

Answering my own Q - is this what I would need to manually flick
between two different LNBs / dishes?

Yes, that's what my digging produced, though apparently you can get an
HD subscription (CAM required obv) for about £99, about a 1/4 of what
the digger wants! I'll probably add a 2nd LNB and put up with SD, or
just watch the highlights ...

A French TNTSAT box might also be an option - but I have not verified this.
With these the smartcard is a small fee for some years - but you have to
buy a matching box (they are paired)

Of course if one has SkyHD (which many subscribers to Sky have!) it is going
to be no extra at all!! (now that Sky SPorts is no longer required)
