Hi All,
A funny thing happend over the weekend.... On friday my tv was fine, picked up freeview, analog, freesat and other sat.. On saturday, my tv could only pick up the analog tv. On sunday, my tv now picks up freeview again. Of course, in logical sequence, would say that freesat & othersat will come back on monday tuesday lol, but i dont think it will! I have tried to do some retuning of the freesat/othersat but it says Astra 2 is not found, also done full factory reset from scratch. It seems weird why everythng but the analog was lost, then freeview come back. It was wierd too as the tvguide part did still work on freesat, but now after reset it doesnt. I have had a quick look at the dish and wires and everything still seem ok ( without a tech look up at dish). Any ideas what may have happend? - any quick ideas i can do to check to see if the sat dish is ok and it might be a componant blown in the tv? - how likely would it be to be the tv v the dish/cable ? Just seems strange both the dish and ariel fail on the same day, running on different wires direct into the tv? Thanks Jack |

Well, does sound odd, can you not borrow some sat gear to check out the system? Of course it could be an intermittent fault in the TV itself, which would be disappointing. Brian It might be worth doing a factory reset and seeing if that clears things up. My Panasonic Freesat recorder does odd things now and again. Thus far I've found that removing the power for a while seems to clear things, usually. Clem |

On slightly closer inspection ( being careful not to do a rod hull ), I can
see the sodding reciever bit has come off at the end of the dish arm ( you know that small round circle thing on a little black box ) Looks like it will take a much bigger ladder then mine and more bravery to see it it can be popped back on the arm to make it work and a few extra screws! Even with this happening, im still stumpted to work out why the analoge worked but the freeview didnt, when its a digital ariel and not connected to the dish - only via the telly. Thanks for all replies Jack "Brian Gaff" wrote in message ... I thought he said he had done that already? Leans on old gnarled walking stick.. In my day a hard thump on the top cured almost everything! BTW, what is that part of the satellite dish called, where its a small circle in a box right at the end of the arm? The box at the end of the arm is an LNB (Low Noise Block-downconvertor, in full). The circular bit covers the tiny aerial that receives the magic waves reflected and focused on to it by the dish. The box contains the electronics necessary to amplify, etc, the received signal. An exceedingly good TV you have there! Same as mine, except I have the 46".
Make sure to keep the firmware up to date via the system menu. "Jack Rabbitt" wrote in message ... Hi All, A funny thing happend over the weekend.... Just a quick question, we had the sat dish installed via Argos about a year ago, would this be under any g'tee? I looked on the argos website and cant see that they still provide the installation service now? , is this in the book or order in store?, thnk it was about £80 all in for the dish and installation. Cheers, Jack |
