Although by contrast the Matsui VCR we bought in 1999 lasted 14 months ..... We have one of those that was bought about 20 years ago. Still in use Matsui didn't make either of them - it was a badge engineering brand and the factory that made them could have been anyone. At times when the Japanese market was flat, they may have been made in Japan and usually to a better standard. Although Matsui generally has a pooor name, particular models were well regarded at the time and lasted well afterwards - my parents' video was a Matsui that did nearly 20 years before a lightning strike took out most of the house electrics (every RCD and MCB too, which made it a right old pain just to get the lights back on). |

It was a Dixons brand Lots of companies do that, I have a Roberts multi band radio made in Singapore to Roberts specifications. (allegedly) But it is identical to another brand name on the market. I suspect Roberts just bought them in and slapped a badge on At times when the Japanese market was flat, they may have been made in Japan and usually to a better standard. I still have a fuse box. It's worked for 50 years. |

In the UK the same machine is a low quality brand name belonging to DSG. ??????????? tim |
