I've had a quick look on YouTube for an example, but I can't find any obvious clips of the TV shows. [I wonder why!] LOL Of course, the radio shows were where Julie Andrews got a start in her show business career. Archy's sister? Show business is full of nepotism. :-) As she was only around 16 at the time, I wonder if some of her early performances were a bit wooden? |

Some of us from within the UK think that it was pretty odd too. It seems odd becausebecause we knew that Peter Brough was using the dummy during radio performances. We don't think there is anything particularly strange about an actor on radio performing more than one character using a different voice for each. Yeah but they don't pretend to be not moving their mouths :-) The Goon Show would have been much less entertaining if Spike Milligan, Harry Secombe, Peter Sellers and Michael Bentine had used only one voice each. Imagine if they had manipulated a dummy of each character :-) I think that might be the basis for a Goons tribute TV show. :-) -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |
