BBC ONE and BBC HD

What is the reason for showing a programme on BBC ONE HD and later
repeating it on BBC HD?

I haven't studied the program content of BBC HD but had the impression that
if a program on BBC2 (or BBC3 or BBC4) this would be on BBC HD at the same
time and if nothing on BBC2, 3 or 4 of HD quality a repeat might appear such
as your example.
My particular program magazine does not list out the BBC HD so it tends to
get forgotten about..

I think I'll launch an inverted channel where everything is shown upside
down for those who like standing on their heads. probably more popular than
3D.

A numpty question,
Does the HD channel only show HD programmes? If a programme is not HD,
do you have to change channels. I wondered why you are told a
programme is on 'BBC1 and BBC1 HD'.

Marketing! The want to make sure everyone knows they have HD channels.

BBC1 HD shows the same as BBC1, if the programme isn't HD, then it gets
upscaled, local news programmes aren't broadcast at all, you just get
the swimming hippos and lawnmowing housewives for a few minutes ...

The sooner they assume that people know that everything on BBC1 is on
BBC1 HD and stop spelling it out, the better.

Not quite true. The 'regional' news broadcasts are not shown on BBC1
HD. Scottish programmes on BBC1 Scotland are not shown on BBC1 HD.
The 'English' programme is shown instead. However, I believe all
Scottish programmes made in HD will be shown on the BBC HD channel at
some point during the week. I assume the same principle applies in
Wales and Northern Ireland.

Actually, picking up on a question you asked in another thread recently,
that's another good reason to get HD terrestrially, despite having an SD
only TV. You can avoid all those pesky local opt outs from BBC 1
Scotland, and STV.
