Perhaps Russ Andrews could be persuaded to stop selling snake oil too.

Perhaps people could stop harping on about Russ, his prices are modest
compared to some.

I can understand that oxygen free copper audio cables make a
difference to the quality of an audio interconnect cable, but is there
any need to buy an OFC aerial cable with gold connectors instead of
the standard cable supplied with a Freeview box?

For TV frequencies, the correct metal is silver, although you only need
plating to the skin depth. That's probably not worth it for the patch
lead, but you may benefit from foil screened cables, as long as the
patch lead is the only weak link.

The other thing to make sure of is that you use the fattest cable
practical and one with the least dielectric material, other than air.
The signal doesn't actually travel in the metal, that just acts as
mirrors to contain it in the dielectric.

Hard cable tends to be better than flexible. Avoid bends and keep them
gentle. Keep the cable as cold as possible

Will it be less lossy than a standard cable?

At audio, when I tried to research this, the difference seemed to be in
the low single figures of percent. At RF one suspects the skin depth
with have been oxidised by diffusion from the air.

If it is then recommend the V20 coax cable from Russ Andrews at only £13
metre.

Don't forget the 17 quid 13A fuses. Guaranteed to improve your signal
reception.
