Oh, analogue/analog.

No no no! My poor joke was occasioned by your 'drunken' spelling of 'sure'.

Don't write in. I meant Ken's spelling of course.

Perhaps that aerial now needs to be disconnected..

I'll mention it, but last time we had a problem with the system, the
council found that they had lost the paperwork when they moved offices
http://www.corbycube.com/
so no one knows who installed it and who has the maintenance contract
(if any).

The great Sandy Heath switch off was a bit of a damp squib.

At 12.30 am the analogue channels except for Channel 5 vanished. For
the next couple of hours things came and went, but by 03.00 all new
muxes were up and running at much improved signal strength.

Ch4 went off almost on the dot of midnight, quickly followed by ITV as it
swapped over to The Zone (or whatever that overnight gaming/shopping thing
is called).
BBC 1 went off air after weather view. Looks like they at least did let
running programs finish before hitting the off switch[*].

[*] I have in my mind a sort of huge 'Frankenstein's laboratory' wall
mounted knife switch doing the shut off but realistically it was probably
just a small logic operated push button or even mouse click.

You can see the "actual" switches here (supposedly)...

http://www.itv.com/anglia/sandy-heat...-digital33932/

What an utterly useless webpage.

It manages to constantly use 100% CPU and bring my PC to a virtual
standstill even before I attempt to play the video.

No problem here, peaked at 44% cpu running the video.

Maybe you need to scan for spyware.

A sneaky peak in the cupboard and simply unplug it would work wouldn't it.
Probably nobody will be able to figure out how to tune in the extra channels
anyway so you may be doing them a favour long term ;-).

The funny thing is I very nearly owned up to it!

Do you know anything about semantics Bill?
My daughter is a linguistics student, and the coursework she is doing now
came straight off Einstein's blackboard, I kid you not!

Oh, that stirs ancient memories! When I was training to be a teacher we
had to do 'Linguistics'. The lecturer was a tiny American gent who used
to sit on his desk and swing his legs. He went on and on about the
Indo-European theory until I thought my head would split. I can't
remember whether he thought it was true or false. He also had a thing
about phonemes, and would make us all say b-b-b-b-b-b-b and k-k-k-k-k-k
for what seemed like hours. He was pally with a Welshman on the staff
who taught us Classical Mythology. I've never, ever, in my chuffing life
been so ****ing bored. They would have spoilt another couple, I can tell
you.
Some years later I had an OU lecturer who commenced the Geology course
with the words, "Now I have to teach you something called Plate
Tectonics. I will teach it, as best as I can, but I must inform you now
that the theory is nonsense and within the next ten years will be
totally discredited."

It's not spyware, it's the useless flash video advertising banners on that
page. I had the same problem. If you reload the page, you get a different
set of advert banners so just keep doing so until it stops giving you the
worst of the CPU-hogging ones.

HTH

I guess my use of Flashblock is a factor then.
