I'm in Gloucester. Most of the channels on my telly (Sony KD32DX40)
disappeared. BBC channels gone but not the ITV channels. I run the retune
and it sticks at 16% and stays there however long I wait, so I have to
cancel it. Now what? Buy a new telly? To be fair, I think it might be one
of the earliest ever Freeview tellys, so it's had a good run, but still...

[guess]
Signal level dropped (aerial/downlead problem?) to the point where the telly
can *just* detect a channel, but it's software can't identify it? or it gets
a corrupted ident that confuses it.

The switchover thing's just happened here. Doubt that it's a coincidence.

Found the signal level info on the "system information" page.
Version number r3.50[GB], Loader v1.01, Signal level: high.

Does not work with the 8K transmission mode that is used post-DSO
http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/2kequipment
Only option is set-top box or other external source.

Do you have any means of recording digital TV?
Treat yourself to a harddrive PVR and retain the TV.

Got a Freeview DVD recorder. But now I can't record one thing and watch
another. So it's a new TV and/or PVR. Oh well.

I would never want to go back to DVDs for day to day timeshifting etc. Great for
archiving of course.

If you've got nothing to lose, try this

Put remote into service mode

Press TV/Video/DVD button until TV LED is on
Press and hold yellow until TV LED flashes
Enter 99999, all three LEDs should be on

Put TV into testmode2
Turn on TV
Press video twice, TT _ _ will appear
Enter 81 to turn on BER display mode
Entering 83 will toggle between 2k, 8k, 2k + 8k transmission modes

Then try a re-tune with it in either 8K or 2K+8K mode ...
