Yes I am using a cheap £10 slx meter. You have got something downstream of this to provide power? Some multiswitches default to vertical low-band on outputs which aren't getting any line-power, while others give no (or greatly attenuated) SAT o/p on unpowered output ports. Most quattro LNBs only need one output to be powered to provide all four output signals, but you find some that need each output to be separately powered. Anyway, check that power is getting to where it should before going too much further. -- Andy |

The meters backlight lights on all 4 feeds from the dish, so that would indicate to me the MS is providing power to all feeds. The unit indicates it provides 13v and 17v on the feeds. |

So the m/switch is powering the LNB OK. What about power from the sat receiver(s) to the m/switch output(s)? -- Andy |

Yes I have that also...Have tried two boxes. It appears the issue is either a duff lnb, a duff MS an alignment issue, or insufficient signal making it to the MS. Tim. .. |

Getting what looks like a very good signal on a meter such as the slx can mean very little In my limited experience, it seems at times that it is possible to get an initial spurrious strong signal registering on a satfinder meter when the dish is elevated at completely the wrong angle (maybe something like 40+ degrees instead of something in the range 25 - 35 degrees). So always set the elevation accurately first. And remember that until everything is fully tightened up, there will be a tendency for the dish to sag a few degrees downwards. Then rotate the dish towards the appropriate satellite cluster whose direction can be ascertained relative to immediately local objects using http://www.dishpointer.COM then fine tune with the meter, gradually turning down the gain. Finally adjust the skew of the LNB from the vertical as appropriate, checking on both the signal strength and SNR back on the receiver and TV/monitor screen. |

I have used a sat meter at the dish on each feed to zero the dish in on Astra and get a very good signal with the gain at about 50%. Dish 'looks' right and is pointed in same direction as the previous mini-dish was. Sounds like you're on the wrong satellite. When the weather picks up try the ones on either side on the one you're on now. As for it 'looking right' I have three dishes in a row here on three different satellites and you can't tell. Bill |

HI thanks for letting us know. Dish setting gets much easier with practice, once you 'get on the arc' east of south it's no too hard to work out which one 28E is. You do need something to measure quality to set ths skew correctly. Well done Allan |
