The people I think who do good extended warranties are Richer Sounds.
You pay extra at time of purchase but if you make no claims you get the
extra money you paid back at the end of the warranty.

I have NO problems with JL, nice sales, good products, long guarantees and
absolutely NO questions asked when its needed.

JL don't give a "free" 5 year warranty on that product so also factor in
£45 for a 3 year extended warranty when buying from JL.

JL are no different to any other retailer, sometimes they are cheaper
and sometimes they are not. I have been in JL and overheard the salesman
talking b******s about a product he was trying to sell so their training
is probably no better than that given in any other high street chain.
Any "free" extended warranty is either passed on from a manufacturer's
agreement or it is built into the selling price of the item.

I also suspect that that they don't stock products which have the
reputation of being unreliable.

fair enough - if JL sell a tv with a 5 year warranty you should take the
curry's price plus 5 year warrant as a comparison - not with a 1 year
warranty.
can't see how you could complain about that.

Or as I said elsewhere if JL is offering to 'match' the price arguably
they should supply at the competitor's proce without the five year
warranty.

Sounds like you have got airline ticket prices in reverse.


First of all you get the price for the journey, then you add the airport
taxes, then you add the baggage handling fee, then you add the
reservation fee, then you add any optional travel insurance fee, then
you add the credit card handling fee if paying by credit/debit card.


And if you want tickets snail mailed to you, then there will be
an additional fee


And maybe there will be a fee for onboard washroom facilities as well


I used journey to differentiate from 'flight'. To mean from arriving at
airport A to departing from airport B.

I wonder whether that was a change in pronunciation of the "y" rather
than a change in spelling.

It may be that that "warranty" is making the transition to "warrantee"
the way "guaranty" changed to "guarantee" (before we were born).

I humbly crave the group's forgiveness for my uncharacteristic misuse of the
word "warrantee" when I meant to use the word "warranty".

I must ask, however, whether it is correct that the terms "guarantee" and
"warranty" have exactly the same meaning? I have always been given to
understand that that there is a shade of difference in their meaning,
although I cannot find any reference on the web which explains it to my
satisfaction.

Your experience is rather different to mine.

My prime hate of Curry's etc, is they are intent on selling you 'extras'
to the virtual exclusion of all else. To the point of making visiting them
an unpleasant experience.

JL (to me) seem more interested in customer satisfaction.
