My interpretation is that he took the picture at 9.36am on Weds and converted the file size several hours earlier at 1.36am! Surely shome mishtake? Bill |

File times 8 hours early usually mean that the time zone is set to Pacific (i.e. California) time, which is often the default. -- Richard |

The link on the mail I had ended at ....directlink so the Picasa page didn't have all the detail in the link above. -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com |

Your camera exif information doesn't show the time of day the picture was taken, but taking a guess at sometime around lunchtime give or take from the direction of the sun this suggests you aerial is pointing maybe north or northeast It does if you go to "Full details". 09.36 indicating you are down in the depths of Trowell or similar? This would tend to concur with your comment about Waltham being obstructed. No, south of the river Try http://www.macfh.co.uk/JavaJive/Audi...Calculator.php and see what it can offer. I like this. Apart from anything else it is useful for conversion of coordinates, but seems easier to use than Wolfblane. -- AnthonyL |

I'm not totally convinced that the whole of the original aerial is there. The chimney fixing is one of those things the lower orders of riggers use when they meet a difficult chimney. Just keep an eye on it. If it starts to lean it's pulling the brick out. Horrible invention, those brackets. Thanks for the warning - I'll keep a close eye on it. Personally I wouldn't buy a new aerial until after switchover. At that point things can only get better, and might even be perfectly OK. Don't be afraid of the wife. Hide the rolling pin. I've given her your email address! Don't be overawed by the neighbours' huge erections. They don't read the teccy newgroups so they are like ripe fruit waiting to be picked. Those big aerials are all mouth and no trousers, mostly. Keep an eye on the crack on the old chimney pot. It might lengthen when there's a frost, and when those big old pots split they don't half make a mess when the fall. Well spotted. The chimney sweep won't put his brush through it. I think for building reasons rather than reception reasons I'll get a new aerial put up from the end wall away from the chimney and smoke, but I'll take your advice and wait till after DSO. Thanks -- AnthonyL |

Be aware that the ground below a wall aerial might end up with bird **** all over it. Don't put the aerial above a doorway! Bill |

How do you get rid of the twanging noises of a wall mounted aerial when the crows are active shortly after dawn? It's nmot a problem at the moment but will be in a month or two. wrote Indeed, I've quite a few of the triple arm Televes aerials spring up around Neath - full line of sight of Kilvey, which is no more than 8 miles away. There are a lot of large tri-boom wideband aerials falling off chimneys around my way. I get reliable signals from a log periodic (and yes, I currently need a wideband aerial for Bluebell Hill). -- Alan news2009 {at} admac {dot} myzen {dot} co {dot} uk |

On a log periodic the ties might stay in place better; on a single boom they might be turned by the wind. -- Peter. The gods will stay away whilst religions hold sway |
