Also it's a fair bet that post DSO a great number of people now using
local relays, could with a correctly aligned aerial, probably get
excellent reception from a main transmitter.

A lot of relays are only there because of multipath from the main TX.
For years now we have been swapping communal system reception from
relays to main stations, and telling anyone bothered about the ghosting
to get DTT.

I did mention in a post the other day that after DSO in my area, I can
now receive stable reception of PSB muxs on the side of my C/D aerial
from a group A transmitter situated around 50 miles away.

I can get perfect DTT from Winter Hill (excluding CCI on some muxes),
which is utterly ridiculous when you look at the signal path. It's right
over the Pennines.

There seems to be a problem with multipath reception here.

I'm seeing multiple copies of posts in other newsgroups. They appear to
be coming from users of the aioe.org newserver.

Why don't they just use Freesat and be done with it?..

Cost, practicality, additional kit, Dave, Yesterday, Quest etc and
why, when a simple 10 element loft aerial and A/B diplexer will
usually adequately provide exactly what they want.

That can cost more and be harder to install than a used sky dish
and digibox

Agreed, can be, but so far hasn't been.

Am I right in understanding that after switchover the HD channels will
be available from all relays and not just from main transmitters?
Yes

Unfortunately!

Why ?

If you live in an area that only had three Muxes would you rather have:

a) 6 channels in both SD and HD

or

b) 18 different channels in SD

I'd noticed that too. We'll just have wait and see how many paths there
are. :-)

Are you getting my posts twice? I was getting error messages (unable to
connect) earlier today and my messages were just going into 'drafts'.
Then when I looked they'd gone. Maybe they went twice.

Ahh! Maybe their aerial moved round in the gales.

There were three identical posts, except for the times.

They were timestamped: 15:26:15, 15:49:25 and 19:45:06.

This threadlet is in reply to the third of them.

How odd. I have only received one copy of all my posts.

If I lost the three COM muxes now, it would make absolutely no difference to
my viewing patterns, so my answer would be a.
