Hi all,
I have been searching online to see if anyone has come up with an effective way to Mask the "Dogs" on our TV Screens. I use a cardboard strip hung over the top of the set, which is better, but I would have hoped that by now someone might have made a diffuser of sorts, that might mask it if nothing else. Anyone have any idea please? Mick. |

If you had one of the TV technologies that suffer screen burn, you might by now ;-) Or he can use the tried and tested zooming technique used in You've Been Framed that hides the fact that the camcorder clips are 20 years old. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

Anyone have any idea please? Get a hat and fix a forward facing rod on it, with a piece of black card hanging down from the end. As long as you align your head carefully and then keep it still throughout the programme it will obscure the DOG. Hope this helps. Australians can use corks. Yes, apparently in Australia they call digital on screen graphics 'dingos'. Bill |

That does not leave many channels to choose between though does it, most on Freeview have them, some are not too bad but 5 has a really bright one. Here is an online petition I found to get them removed. http://www.petition.com/DOG/petition.html Mick. |

The DOG is the least of Five's drawbacks: films with 10 min. on - 5 min. off (some dhannels have 2 breaks an hour); 30 min. progs. with 20 min. of content (Highland Emergency often finishes at around 7 - 8 min. to the time). On the first day that Five was on satellite, I watched a film that was ruined by the frequent, long breaks. I've watched very little on Five since then. I see something on, then realise that it's on Five and so don't bother. Off to look at the petition. -- Peter. The gods will stay away whilst religions hold sway |

Does anyone actually know why these are so often used now?If it were just a
case of someone knowing where a source was from on a pirate video then there will be much more crafty ways to do this in the digital stream, if it really was to let people know that they are watching a particular thing and channel, then they must have a very poor idea of intelligence of people. I suspect its some kind of vanity corporate thing in which case its a load of tosh.
