Default Have I bricked my pvr (remote control)?

I have a Panasonic DMR-XS350EB - worked fine.
Today the TV (ancient Protech) failed so I bought a Panasonic TX-L32X20B,
theory being Panasonic DVD Recorder/Panasonic TV combo, no problems.
Reality: whilst setting up DVD remote to control TV (it worked fine when I
tuned it for the Protech) I have got the DVD displaying "DVD 3" and the
remote no longer controls the DVD recorder, but does, now, work the TV
on/off, vol, CH and AV buttons.
I've tried the "hard" DVD reset (pressing up-and-down channel buttons, on
DVD recorder, for 5 seconds) - display still shows "DVD 3" and DVD remote
still does not control the DVD recorder - which has started to record a
couple of programmes setup earlier this week.
Which key sequences do I require to get my DVD recorder remote to work
again?

TIA

Keith

Don't panic.

This is a feature that allows you to have several identical devices
and have one remote control work each one (instead of all of them
operating all the devices). You can set the "channel" to 1, 2, or 3.
You have inadvertently set the remote to a different channel from the
DVD recorder.

You can change the DVD recorder's channel from the on-screen menu.
But without the remote, you can't get to the menu.

You can change the remote's channel by some magic key combination. It
might be pressing "OK" and "1" simultaneously for 5 seconds. Or maybe
"OK" and "3" - I don't remember whether the message refers to the
device's channel or the remote's. Or it may be some other combination;
it should say somewhere in the manual.

I think this is where I went wrong and changed it to "DVD 3".

Too true, so the menu options, page 119, can't be entered.

I've tried "OK" and "1" simultaneously for 5 seconds, also with "2" and
"3" - no joy and I haven't found any reference to any other key combinations
in the manual.

Manual says to press & hold "TV on/off" and enter code for television. I did
and got the DVD remote to work the TV
on/off, vol, CH and AV buttons. But now the TV on/off button now turns off
the DVD, which means that I cannot now change this code. (page 105 in
manual).

There doesn't appear to an option to allow the TV remote to "get at" the DVD
menus.

Perhaps I need a means of resetting the DVD remote.

That's what the combinations above are meant to do.

See page 119 of your manual: while pressing and holding [OK],
press and hold [3] for more than 5 seconds. (Perhaps you have
to press [OK] first.)

Setting the remote to also control the television should be
completely unrelated to this.

This is what I tried, page 119; "OK" and "1" simultaneously for 5 seconds,
also with "2" and "3".
The only thing that happens is that the display on the DVD recorder changes
from "FS 102" (if set to channel 102) to "DVD 3". I've tried press and hold
"OK" + "1" etc as long as 12 seconds.
I can change the Freesat channel using the up/down buttons on the recorder
but recording/playback/EPG can only be done with the remote.

Keith

I don't know why it doesn't work, but just to be clear: pressing OK and 3
is not supposed to do anytihng to the TV, it's supposed to reset the
remote control. After that, the remote control should work with the
TV.

I seem to be stuffed; resetting the DVD (press+hold channel up/down button
for 10 seconds) does activate Setup but doesn't reset the remote, so can't
select/change any setup items. Is there a "secret" pinhole somewhere to
force a reset (as in Psion 3A, TomTom etc)?

I'd start looking for a remote to borrow... perhaps from the shop
where you bought it?

Oh, and try removing the batteries from the remote for a while, then
trying again.

A quick Google found someone who said it took as long as 20 seconds...
worth a try I suppose.

Already tried these...
Just returned from Panasonic shop - very helpful but only solution is to
return the recorder to store of purchase, John Lewis, 40 miles away!

Hopefully there's an "Engineers" remote of some jump switches to (re)set in
the recorder.
