If you get annoyed by the current five DOG, you are going to like
the one that is coming to your screens soon even less. http://www.flickr.COM/photos/onshore/5100860850/ Photo courtesy of djonshore. |

Its not those that annoy me its the total waste of space of +1 channels that annoys me. I mean, with the advent of really cheap time shifter boxes which I prefer to call them, what exactly is the point? The only one I can see is that people who are really disorganised get to forget to record stuff they wanted to see and catch it an hour later, well I'm sorry if that is the only reason, then why not have channels that repeat everything an hour later on for ever, Oh, yes those exist as well don't they.. grin. Total shambles. Speaking as somebody WITH a 2-tuner PVR (topfield) I find +1 channels useful when there's a THREE way clash; this sometimes happens in the 21:00 timeslot. Lacking other repeats, the +1 channels become valuable to me. I'd be just as happy with a "stupid O clock in the morning" repeat on the main channel, of course. BugBear |

The timeshifts of the main channels get _more_ viewers than most of the smaller channels. I have to admit to using them. I have plenty of series links set up on my PVR, but that doesn't stop be popping the TV on, seeing the last five minutes of something interesting on CH4, and being glad of having CH4+1 there to record it for later viewing. With a YouView box (iPlayer, ITV player, 4OD, 5 etc on the TV) this would become less important - though I don't always watch things within 7 days of broadcast, so I'd probably still record the +1 channel in this instance. I would just have to be organised enough to catch the programme on-line within 7 days if the +1 channel wasn't there. At the end of the day, logic doesn't matter - it's how many people use the +1 channels that matters! Just because we could all be organised enough to not need them doesn't mean that we will. Cheers, David. |

The great thing is once I've set up multiple Season Passes for a programme on each of its channels, I can forget about it and just let the recordings flow in. I never need to worry about which channel any episode is being recorded from. TiVo just picks the one that doesn't clash first and handles it all for me without getting two copies of anything. I'd be just as happy with a "stupid O clock in the morning" repeat on the main channel, of course. Those are fine for me too. The more showings, the better! Some people may not like the signing however. The only problem with TiVo is they're getting rather long in the tooth now and when they die will be very difficult to replace. -- Adrian |

My wife goes out with her friend on a Wednesday night so the things we like to watch have to be recorded and watched together at a later time. Last night brought the first in the new series of Bones on Sky1 at 21.00, Leverage on Bravo at 21.00, Castle on Alibi at 21.00 and Burn Notice on FX at 22.00. Sky+ box, of course can record two programmes at once so I set it to record Bones and Leverage 21.00 to 22.00, got Castle on Alibi +1 22.00 to 23.00 and Burn Notice on FX +1 23.00 to 0.00. Thank goodness for +1 channels I say :-) |

If there's a programme that I want to watch, I watch it, DOG or not. I hate DOGs but they are here to stay so I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. |

Thank goodness for +1 channels I say :-) I'm in total agreement with all those supporting the +1 channels for all the reasons given. I seldom watch anything on commercial TV without recording it first to remove all the adverts, or we start watching it 15 minutes after the start time. This sometimes results in three way programme clashes especially (as others have noted) at the 21.00 slot. |
