Why is the UHF antenna on the third mast *vertically* polarised
and the UHF antennas on the other two masts *horizontally* polarised?

Are not transmissions from Fremont Point horizontal polarisation?

the 2nd Mast from a different angle

I noticed that as well. I really do not know why that is. The 3rd mast
is on the estate across the road whereas Mast 1 & 2 are on my estate
that is the only difference.

The FM aerial is crap, it doesn't look to me like a very professional job.

It's quite neatly done (see the way the cable have been taped up), but
it doesn't seem a very good idea to me for the dish and aerial to share
one mast. The tube looks a bit thin for that.

Bill will have chapter and verse.

The only thing I can think of is that there was talk of possibly
changing the polarisation after analog switch off. [Corrections/updates???]

So maybe one installation team has taken this into account but
the other has not?

Or ...

I have just noticed two Aerial / Satellites erected on the exterior of the
estate I live at. Here are the photos

http://user.itl.net/~nlel/aerial1.JPG
http://user.itl.net/~nlel/aerial2.JPG

Do you think these are likely to be the ones used to provide freeview and
freesat/sky to the residents of the estate? All the other ones scattered
around are only satellite dishes and appear to be attached to particular
flats.

Not very impressed. The brackets look too flimsy for that loading, and one
of the aerials seems to be pointing straight into a higher roof!
I'm presuming two of the UHF installations are looking at Fremont Point and
the third at St Helier or another relay station?

Probably installed by cowboys, no doubt the cheapest quote.

The photo is deceptive, I have just had a quick look out of my living room
window from where I can permanently see Mast 1 (which is the one your
referring too) and its clear of the roof of the building.

Your guess is as good as mine, no in fact its probably better.

No, Fremont remains HP after DSO. However it can't be pointing towards
Fremont, can it ? look at the relative direction compared to the sat dish,
against the other pictures.

If it's in St Helier, then there's a VP relay strapped to the power station
chimney, my money is on that ? If not then it's on St Brelades.
