Default iplayer - any limit on viewing downloaded file?

I'm a very infrequent user of iPlayer. I've just downloaded the 3rd and final
part of BBC4's 'Opera Italiana' for my wife, as I'm in the dog house for
failing to record it on Sky+.

Using the basic procedure I got a window offering to play it, with the
proviso that this must be done by 11th July. That might still not be long
enough (as she hasn't yet got around to watching the first two parts that I
DID record), so I've also used the option to download the 567 MB file offered
for playing on WMP.

Am I right in assuming I can now play this file
Opera_Italia_Episode_3_p0085nbn.wmv
at ANY time of our choosing please?

(BTW, is there a more appropriate forum for iPlayer issues?)

When you use the option to download the file for WMP the information
window with the Download button on it says:

Windows Media Player

Prefer to play your BBC iPlayer downloads in Windows Media Player or
Windows Media Centre? If so, this option is for you.
....
You have up to 30 days to watch any programmes downloaded to your
computer before they expire.

My first thought was to simply burn a DVD but on trying to import it to my
video editor (Magix Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus), I got a message that it could
not be read.

I'm sure there's some justification in defense of this short time limit, but
I'm darned if I can see it.

This may help:
http://www.dvd-tool.com/remove-drm/wmv.html

(I haven't tried it myself, as I would never download a file that's
infected with DRM in the first place).

"Because they technically can", ultimately. They'd say something about
rights issues, but if they could have arranged for VHS cassettes to
self-destruct after X days you can bet they would have done the same
twenty years ago.

Thanks. Trying it (the trial version) on that file now. Abandoned, as it
seems to be hung in a 'Queued' state. Will try again later.

It ran next time ... but I then got
"The conversion is limited to 60 seconds in this edition. You need at least
Tunebite PIatinum to lift this restriction."

At 30 euros, I'll pass!
