Ouch, £349

Something I'd like to have since I imagine watching recorded TV is SD
after buying an HD receiver would be a bit of a let-down.

However, before buying anything from Humax I would want reassurance
that after taking the money they can be relied on to continue to
support the product. See the earlier threads on the 9200T.

How many other manufacturers provide the level of software support that
Humax do on kit that's no longer on sale?

I'll be buying one to replace my 9200t when we get closer to HDTV in my
region

You may be in job that pays out huge bonuses and have loadsamoney to
spash around but my perspective is that before I consider spending
£359 I need to be confident that it will still be supported in two
years time. Humax have not so far inspired such confidence.

Why not? They've fixed what seems to have been a very tough problem, on a
product that is years old. That SHOULD inspire confidence.

I have a bog standard philips stb which I think is still on sale. There
is such a blindingly obvious software bug that you'd think it would be
fixed. Alas one year on there has been no ota update.

I think humax have dragged their heels but at least they now appear to
have something for us. I still like my 9200t and I would consider them
again.

I agree: the Humax 9200T has some silly shortcomings (software bugs) that
could be fixed, but they haven't been. It is very disappointing. However,
from what I can gather from various newsgroups, magazine reviews, forums,
customer reviews, etc, all the competing products are even more
disappointing.

I've owned both a Sony and a Panny HDD/DVD recorder box. Both had
tremendous shortcomings. One (the Sony) went straight back to the shop, the
Panny was given away.

Bizarrely, it seems there is STILL no serious competitor for the
top-of-the-line Humax products.
