Default Beckley transmitter -- Why Don't You...

Well, it is serious because if they are without their nightly soap fix,
they might decide one of the satellite platforms is a more reliable
option. I expect to see hoards of cold turkey viewers beseiging local Tv
suppliers.

The BBC is reporting that TV and radio transmissions from the Beckley,
Oxforshire transmitter are currently off air due to "an incident".

Nothing to do with terrorists, it is almost the same fault as the other mast
that went on fire and fell down. The problem is faulty aerials and feeders.
Put too much RF in and that's what happens. The company that installed the
equipment should not be employed again before an investigation.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember J G Miller saying
something like:

look out for suspicious bags on public transport

I've seen some horrible old bags on public transport.

While J G Miller runs up and down the street screaming "We're all
gonna die!" I thought you might want to see this from the people who
have a bit more to do with it than the BBC.

People ? It's just a bloke called Brian Butterworth, with a 'curate's egg'
site that has rather too much speculation and guess work on it. Just looked
now, says Oxford is still off the air. Well, it's not, it came back on 10
hours ago:

That's just some idiot with an alias of Briantist who thinks he knows
what goes on but actually doesn't.
He certainly has absolutely no authority to speak officially about
anything, apart from the size of his own arse hole.

You know, in the old days, after new equipment was installed one would
first put low powers through the system and check that the system was
behaving itself, not simply switch over and wait for the smoke.

Mind you we often did the latter with older TVs in for service....

Terrorists are not believed to have been involved, although the
current terrorism threat level is

* Severe *

This means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.

http://www.homeoffice.gov.UK/counter-terrorism/current-threat-level/

So stay alert, and watch out, there is a terrorist about.

More than likely a duff joint or not assembled too well or moisture in
that bit of the feeder cable...
