Default e-Motion TVs anyone?

My local Sainsburys have got this 26"TV/DVD combo with USB recording feature
on offer for £200.
http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop...v=42949601 82

I'm tempted to get one for my holiday home, but have never heard of the
brand. Made in Slovakia, apparently.

Have any of you bought one - or a similar model of the same brand? I would
be very interested in your comments.

TIA.

Interesting. I've just bought a Sharp from Argos - not even taken
it out of the box yet - and that has USB recording on it as well.

I wonder.................

Are you wondering whether e-Motion is a re-branded Sharp? Does yours specify
the country of origin?

Isn't it more likely it's a no-name set badged as "Sharp" or "E-motion"

Japan.

So much for that theory?

My recently acquired Sony Bravia was assembled in Slovakia - must be
the new China (where probably the bits were made).

I'm after one of these TVs for my mother, but Sainsbury's are
currently out of stock.
Quite honestly, this sort of equipment is so reliable these days, I am
really not too concerned over its origin.
When did anyone last hear of a modern TV going wrong once it has
settled down? They try to sell you one of these extended warranties,
but they are a total waste of money, especially given the low initial
cost of £200.

When the FFT parameter was changed from 2k to 8k?

When the NIT was split?

Doesn't really affect the TV though assuming it accepts an external signal
from a set-top box though does it?
As a display device it would still work fine!

Ideally, if I was buying a new TV I'd prefer one with no tuners built in at
all and just a couple of SCART sockets, component inputs and a couple of
HDMI's. That would be totally futureproof*

* until the next big thing ;-)

Mike

If I ignore the tuner, I've got one exactly like that now. The shops are full
of them.

There seems hardly any distinction these days between what is sold as a "TV
set" and what is sold as a "computer monitor", as they all seem to have the
same selection of sockets, and some computers have HDMI outputs, and/or
tuners. Just ignore the bits you don't want. What you call it just depends on
how you use it.
