Yes if you live in a "safe seat" constituency, your vote has never
really mattered.

Every election in the first past the post system is decided in the
marginal "swing" seats, and that is why those are always targetted
by the campaigns.

Where I live its a tory safe seat with Labour a steadily sinking third, the
Lib-dems are still a long way behind but I'm hoping a late surge might do
the job.

I would prefer the Arab system of democracy but, unfortunately, it's not
available here. just the wishy washy wet hand wringing liberal, look after
the poor griminals etc etc

Same here, and in fact in '97 when there was labour landslide, the local
Tory increased his vote.

Unfortunately, in peasant country they tend to vote for "Sir".

Those FauX LaboUr politicians who have a modicum of political acumen
have not bothered standing as candidates at this election either
by resigning eg James Parnell or by taking up a permanent seat in
the upper chamber eg Peter Mandelson.
