If you replaced the Sky+ by a Sky+HD STB (plenty for sale on eBay) you would
get BBCHD, ITVHD, C4HD and, from the summer, C5HD without playing Sky
any more money! None of these channels involve paying for SkyHD!

But this is for a second telly in the bedroom and I would have to get more
channels than that to justify to my wife spending all that money.

The only additional FTA HD channel I can get with a Humax Freesat box in
non-freesat mode is Luxe TV HD. (I haven't done a non-freesat channel
scan for many months.)

Yep. The Scots talk about ITV plus STV; the more knowledgeable know about
ITV + STV + UTV. It takes a reasonably high nerd quotient (not absent on
this ng) to know that there is actually ITV + STV + UTV + CTV (Channel

Getting even more nerdy, ITV plc sell CTV's national advertising on their
behalf, an arrangement that started with Westward in the 60s, moved to TSW in
82, TVS in 84, and Meridian in 1993. Since then of course Meridian has been
assimilated into ITV plc. Remember that national ads (and network programmes)
are simply rebroadcast from Meridian's 'Rowridge' Tx chain. Used to be off
air, now it's a fibre optic cable.

Anyway, because of all that I think CTV are in 'ITV's HD club'. The way to
tell for sure is after April 2nd, bung a Jersey postcode into the Freesat box,
and run a scan !

During this afternoon's Harry Potter film on ITV 1 and HD I bunged JE1 1BY
into my Freesat box and ran a scan.
Ch 103 was mapped to ITV CI, and the 'Red Button' link to ITV HD appeared, and
worked.
