Default An oddity on Freeview last night

Freeview LCN 90 carries "TV NEWS 2" (entertainment news and movie clips)
from midnight to 09:00.

Last night, i.e. very early this morning I looked at it briefly and was
instantly struck by nostalgic memories of old TVs with dodgy vertical
hold. The picture had "scrolled" half a screen so that the top half of
the picture was at the bottom and the bottom half at the top.

I checked a few other channels to confirm that my TV was still
performing properly and that I was not having a weird dream. No it was
just that channel.

Strange!

Strange as it may seem, most bits of digital broadcast kit still requires an
analogue reference. Sounds like something in the TX chain was not locked to
a reference.

I wondered about such a possibility. When it was wrong the picture was
rock steady with the bottom of the picture in the middle of the screen.
There was no rolling or jerking.
