ITV was switched to the previous BBC2 analogue channel so we now have

Are you not permitted to retune your button 3 to the new ITV channel?

Well of course it can be done but it will be utterly pointless by next
month. It's easier to just use the different button for the time being.

I know lots of people who need help with this. I'm surprised there
haven't been many very vocal complaints in areas that have already
switched.

The least able people are usually also the least vocal.

As far as government is concerned, if you don't make a fuss you don't
exist.

What time of day will the DSO be done? I don't want to keep retuning all

I notice that the COM muxes will remain on their existing channels,
powers and in 2K mode until 2012.

I believe that the COM muxes will not change frequency / power to limit
interference with other non DSO transmitters, but can I ask why they are
remaining in 2k mode?

Is there a penalty in changing to 8K mode without the power increase?

I thought 2K mode was only adopted to allow OnDigital to launch as soon
as possible.

I imagine that the two differing modes will cause some equipment
problems. ISTR that it has been reported during the DSO change over
process elsewhere in the country.

QUOTE

In 2012, at the Mendip transmitter, SDN, ARQ AÂ* and ARQ BÂ* adopt their
final DSO powers post switchover. In addition SDN will adopt the 8k
transmission mode.

UNQUOTE

It is indeed very strange.

But let me make a guess as to why this is. They are doing the changeover
for the commerical multiplexes on the cheap.

They are continuing to use the old equipment on the same UHF channels at
the same power, and not bothering to buy and install the necessary 8k
equipment until they have to change channels and install higher power
transmitters.

Cool. Do they still broadcast Tiswas?

You can tell Digital UK is staffed by a load of under 25s can't you !

I do a double take every time I see 'ATV' written down, in fact I've
gone and got the ATV logo tune stuck in my head now !
