What time of day will the DSO be done? I don't want to keep retuning all
day. Any ideas? What will be the signs that it has happened? Hugh -- Hugh Newbury www.evershot-weather.org |

Just a thought No analogue No analogue *on BBC2*. Full analogue switch-off comes a fortnight later on 7 April. Past changes (new channels etc.) have tended to happen around lunch-time-ish, but if Hugh is really keen not to miss a second of day-time tv on the two switch-over days, then constant retuning is indeed the answer ;-) . Andr Coutanche When Wenvoe started switchover (3rd March), it was the ITV analogue channel that went off air (replaced by the new BBC MUX). ITV was switched to the previous BBC2 analogue channel so we now have to press 2 to select it. This happened on both the main transmitter and our local relay - I don't know if all relays were the same. I'd switched to analogue 2 to see if anything was happening and at first thought I'd got the date wrong. It took a moment to notice that GMTV was on there. You could look at which channel is assigned for the BBC MUX post- switchover at Mendip and figure out which analogue program will go off. Easier just to check them all on the day though. Once you see one go, wait a while (an hour?), then rescan. So far as I can see, anyone served only by a relay is going to lose ITV and Channel 4 completely when DSO is complete until they rescan and I know lots of people who need help with this. I'm surprised there haven't been many very vocal complaints in areas that have already switched. -- Steve Hayes South Wales, UK ----Remove colours from address---- |

One, on the first DSO day, I'd suggest about 6pm on the evening after the first overnight shutdown. The second at 6pm on the evening after the second overnight shutdown. Yes, the signals will probably be up running by 6am from the main stations, but much later for some relays. Read the link I posted in this thread, it explains everything, the timings, and what moves where etc. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. http://www.paras.org.uk/ |
