Default Strange Coincidence

2 days after I've plugged in the new Humax Box (switchover here was 2 days
ago) - my (10 year old) TV has given up the ghost - presumably this is just
an unhappy coincidence?

Was working OK for those 2 days

I think there was a thread in this group last year about killer digital
converter boxes.

I am a bit suspicious - but a SCART connection can't cause damage?

It could if the wrong voltages were sent down the cable.

That will teach you to give old Doric sets a home. You surely knew the
chassis was at half mains and two capacitors were all the isolation it had..

Did it suffer from a lot of ghosting or just one? ;-)

There was indeed.
My thinking is there may well be some truth in this,
an RGB connection my well produce a more intense peak white
and consequently a higher beam current than the set has been accustomed to,
leading to LOPTX failure putting the set BER

A friend of mine recently added a PS3, and his TV also died immediately.

Making it DOA, and SOP would make it subject to WEEE.

ASAP.
