I am in the market for a 40" gaming tv with a vga input but I have done some
resarch and a few things are unclear. I know response time is an issue, what is a typical response time good for gaming? What is a good dynamic color ratio? I have seen some that are 100000:1 and others are 10 bit. What's the difference? I would like a 240hz set to reduce any/all ghosting but some sets come with a game mode that is supposed to balance this issue. I am really interested in an LED set but the ones in my price range are side-lit LED which doesn't produce a uniformed backlight. I have narrowed t down to either a Sharp Aquas or the LG 42lh90 but if anyone else has some suggestions I would love to hear them. -timm3r |

All I am asking for are suggestions, does anyone use their set for video editing or anything other than normal programming??? Anybody? I have a new 55 inch Vizio. It has LED backlighting, 240 Hz, and a slew of video mode presets. It has a "game" setting for the video, which is a preset that is brighter and with more saturation. The TV also has 240 Hz, but you talked about VGA. I don't know if any of that works with VGA input. I do have a laptop hooked up to the VGA port, but it isn't a gaming machine. I used it as a video streaming device. I have recently attached a PS3 hooked up through HDMI, and it works great for video and audio streaming, and games. The laptop will find a new use shortly. My PC gaming is done on a Viewsonic 24" that sits about 18" from me. The Vizio was about $1,900 at Costco. They have smaller models, but I don't know much about them. -- Jim |
