Default HD Freeview question

Could someone in one of the areas already receiving BBC HD via Freeview,
please tell me if the BBC HD channel appears in the channel line up of a
normal, non HD Freeview box?
If so, what channel number is allocated?
Is there a channel number also for ITV HD?
Thanks

Presumably you mean FreeSat. BBC is on Channel 108.

I believe you have to access ITV1 HD via a red button command?

No, he was talking about HD on Freeview, been going for three months in London
and NW England.

Thanks Mark - so these channel numbers appear in a SD Freeview box channel
list, in a HD Freeview area?

You obviously presume incorrectly, the OP's question was perfectly clear.

I very much doubt it.

The HD channels use DVB-T2 which the SD boxes won't even see as a valid
signal.

True, but is the EPG information for the DVB-T2 stations carried only on
the DVB-T2 multiplex or on one of the DVB-T multiplexes?

I'm not sure.

But on all the SD boxes I've tried channels do not appear in the channel
list if their multiplex was too weak to be detected when the last re-scan
was done.

I think the EPG/SI data has to be referred to by the other DVB-T1 muxes for
the system to work properly ? Having said that I've not seen any reports from
people in Winter Hill's or CP's service area saying that their T1 receivers
have BBC and ITV HD mentioned in the EPG listings ?

A lab at work has a T2 feed from CP, (that's where I've seen the HD
broadcasts) I'll pop in there this week, and see how T1 receivers behave.
