Per Elmo P. Shagnasty:
I would say I can't believe you just said that, but it really explains quite a bit. Could there be a semantics issue? If "everyone can install..." is taken literally, it's obviously a fallacy bc some people just are not physically able to climb up on a roof. OTOH, if it means "everyone can install or have somebody install..." it pretty much works for me. -- PeteCresswell |

It seems to me that what you mean is that not everyone can have an outside antenna installed outside. Many of us have an outside antenna installed "inside", which greatly improves reception over the traditional "indoor" antenna. |

If you don't see how great it is, plainly you don't have an appropriate antenna installed outside!" I guess that really everything depends on location. I have an outside antenna, installed inside (the attic) and reception by the TV it's connected to is great. I also have an outside antenna (outside) connected to another TV and the reception is only good. But the outside antenna outside is partially blocked by the 2-story house next door, whereas the outside antenna inside is blocked only by my roof. so as usual, YMMV. |

HOA houses and condos don't allow outside TV antennas, but they allow
Satellite dishes with ugly outside wiring tacked all over on the outside of the house where it can be easily be seen from the street. They don't allow anything in the front windows that would look like a antenna And they worry about the cosmetics of the neighborhood. I lived in a apartment complex a long time ago and they didn't allow any outside antennas and satellite dishes and that you would have cable TV only. It was learned later that the manager and the cable company had a back door deal that if the manager kept TV antennas and satellite dishes out, the manager gets free cable. What a deal for the manager and not for the tenants. "Wes Newell" wrote in message ... But there's other places to install a personal outside antenna in an apartment. -- Want the ultimate in free OTA SD/HDTV Recorder? http://mythtv.org My Tivo Experience http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/tivo.htm Tivo HD/S3 compared http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/mythtivo.htm AMD cpu help http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php |

What a deal for the manager and not for the tenants. HOAs and condo associations can't simply disallow antennas. There are federal regulations which govern their placement. With some restrictions, if it is in an area that only you have access to it is okay. It is treated like the satellite dish and even resembles it. We have one on our house for the UHF and it works very well. G² |
