Not good news this technology. http://tvtechnology.com/article/94798 Methinks Sony is going to let other companies (like Samsung) do the OLED R&D work (and spend the R&D bucks.) |

G-squared wrote: Not good news this technology. http://tvtechnology.com/article/94798 They're not stopping OLED production, they're stopping production of OLED TVs in Japan. " Sony has announced that it's halting production of its once-highly touted OLED technology flat-screen HD sets in Japan ..." ... "Although Sony's OLED sales in Japan are set to end after its current inventory is exhausted, the company said it currently has no plans to cease OLED marketing outside of Japan." OLEDs are also starting to show up in handheld devices. -- Bert Hyman St. Paul, MN |

I have a tape of KTLA's HD sign-on (KTLA-DT 31) during their morning show. There was a location shot at a Circuit City where they were watching the launch on an HDTV display. It was when John Glenn went up on the shuttle in 1998 or 1999.* 52" RPTV - $5,500 HDTV tuner - $1,500 Years later I grabbed a Sylvania SRZ3000 HD tuner at Sears for $94 so I could watch the extra Olympic coverage of 2004 and to see network programming in 16x9. I still use my Zenith DTT-901 to watch widescreen shows. Maybe someday when I'm employed again I'll get an HDTV. :-) But it has to be 120Hz, no more 3:2 pulldown for me. :-P *Milton Bearle hit the switch that lit-up KTLA-DT 31, their permanent DT assignment. |
