Default Logik LPR 250 PVR

Hi,

My Logik PVR is doing very odd things, if it's set to record it fails
miserably unless the TV is on or on stand-by as well. I've changed the SCART
lead between the unit and the TV but this hasn't made any difference. The
only other thing I can think of is that maybe the power saving socket system
both units plug into is interfering. It's set to turn everything off when
the TV goes into stand-by and yes, the PVR is plugged into the socket that
doesn't get turned off.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

remove the scart lead and let the PVR sit on its own and see if the fault
still occurs. if it does then plug the PVR into a normal outlet and try
again.
If it still has problems . take it back as faulty.

Just a Doh! type possibility:

Are you absolutely sure the aerial feed (assuming freeview) isn't looped
through or amplified by any other devices that do get turned off by the
power saving socket system. E.g. video recorder, amplified splitter,
masthead amplifier power supply.

I'd say that diagnosis was pretty likely.

What does 'fail miserably' mean? Does it have a recording indicator on
but when you goto find it there is nothing stored. Most PVRs don't know
what to do if there is no signal, programmers tend to assume user are
sitting there watching the recording (as well as designers assuming you
always have the TV on the PVR signal..bloody kids today.. 'are you sure
you want to do that'..argh).

Simple solution would be to loop the aerial to the PVR first, make sure
your patch cables have fully shielded plugs. The older bunched and
soldered shield type don't work aswell for digital, you need a 360deg
shield all the way.

stupid.......
