I wonder as the block of flats I live in were developed in the mid 90s
and had analog cable installed at that time... in those days say 1995-1997 were IRS systems available as they are today? I guess the council wished to provide the residents with multi channel tv and rather then install an MATV system which would only have provided terrestrial tv over a master aerial they went with analog cable. Adversely the development of the block of flats where my mum lives say 2000 - 2002 have had an IRS system installed right from the get go. I wonder were the council trying to save money back in the mid 90s or were IRS systems not available as they are today. |

IRS as such, in the early to mid 90's where for analogue Sky as well as terrestrial TV. They where mainly 2/3 cable backbone. One of the main suppliers of kit for such systems where Global with their 4way IF taps and Line End switches. Polygon where popular IF headend Amplifiers. Around here anyway. Oh right so in the mid 90s an IRS system would have been analogue but when did digital IRS systems become available? I know at my mums place they have a digital IRS system and her flats were developed between 2000-2002. |
