Default Gold Scart leads etc

Hi All,

As ive just got my excellent new telly up, i want to make sure im getting
the best picture my budget will allow for a minute.

Ive heard that getting gold platted scart leads which go from the video/DVD
to the tv will greatly increase the picture quality, is this true or shall i
just leave what i have in there now?

Thanks

Scart?? What sort of dark ages peripherals are you playing with? Gold HDMI
leads are an absolute minimum. Also, have you got a digital aerial?
Anything less that a full gold plated digital aerial will mean that you're
getting a substandard picture. Feeding your TV with electricity through
leads that aren't oxygen depleted will also degrade the picture. For best
picture stability ask your power company for nuclear power only. Other
sources just can't be relied on.

Lastly, make sure you have lithium batteries in your remote.

Don't pay more than around £5 for your gold plated snake oil (probably
cheaper from other suppliers)

Don''t you need seven HDMI leads to get true 7:1 sound?

Yebut I just put Tescos half price lithiums in my Wii remotes, I reckoned they would vibrate stronger for longer.
Shall I go back to zinc carbon?

Depends on how long you want your vibrators to run for.

Gold plating is not important, what is important is each of the signal leads inside
the cable should be individually screened, and not rely on an overall screen.

In general, the ones with a thick cable will meet this parameter, if yours are very thin, throw them away.
The ones that have a flat ribbon cable similar to an IDE computer drive ribbon are also OK,
and are to be recommended because the weight is better distributed, less chance of it
falling out.

As has been said, if you are paying more than a fiver each then you are being ripped off.

I wouldn't want them to discharge prematurely.
