Default Advice on 32" LCD TVs please..

Hello, My wife and I are considering the purchase of a new TV which
would have to be a 32" LCD model and capable of HD or, HD ready.
Also, having Freeview or, satalite' and, DVD/cd playing.
Price between £350-450.

I would appreciate any helpful comments in regard to:
HD/HD ready.....what this really means?
50, or, 100HZ.....what benefits/improvements?

Any helpful advice would be appreciated, I am 70 years 'young'
and not all that knowledgeable on such matters.

Thanks,
Allen

My TV sets are Panasonic they always get good marks in reviews.

They do some with HD Freesat built in, you need a dish for those sets.
All other sets are HD Ready, means you can get HD with a box added.
I know some smaller sizes of TV sets can have DVD/CD built in not sure about
larger TV sets. Personally I like to use a separate DVD player or
recorder.
Consider a 37" LCD if you can, again my preference.
Present sets with Freeview will not get Freeview HD, if you want that you
should wait a few months.

David

Don't the Freeview ones have nasty ad-infested Guide+ EPGs?

This is not a reason to avoid the TVs themselves. I know perfectly well
what my "LED TV" really is, and that the description could have been
clearer about how the technology works, but it gives a good picture and
has low power consumption. Aren't these the things that matter?

I wouldn't bother with the freesat TVs, you can get a freesat
system for £40 now.

You appear to know what you are talking about, so as Freeset built in TV are
HD and get BBC HD channel and ITV1 HD can you tell me the make/model and
where I can get a HD Freesat box for £40 please?

Yes, but the ad isn't the problem. It's that when the EPG is up even the
sound from the current programme is cut off. My 3-year old Humax 9200T
still has sound when the EPG is showing, so why can't my year-old Panasonic?
