If he's picking up OTA reception NOW he IS picking up High Def broadcasts and down converting them for SD. So whatever he gets now is what he will get with the same antenna set up. |

I live in chicago. thanks for your help. charlie Back in 2004 I took the plunge and bought an HD tuner (Sylvania SRZ3000) even though I got snowy (but color) reception from Baltimore & Philly here in Dover, DE. I was able to get all the major network affiliates from both cities. My point is if you got decent analog without excessive ghosting in the past you should get good HD OTA with the same aerial. Good luck. |

All HDTV's have built in ATSC (8vsb) tuners capable of receiving over the air (OTA) broadcast in digital format. Most major networks now broadcast in HD, but even the ones that are in SD will be clear. Here in the DFW area, I get over 50 digital channels with OTA free TV. If you haven't used or watched OTA DTV then you don't know what you are missing. Gone are the old days of NTSC and snowy crappy pictures. ATSC offers crystal clear pictures up to 1080i (1920x1080) resolution. -- Want the ultimate in free OTA SD/HDTV Recorder? http://mythtv.org My Tivo Experience http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/tivo.htm Tivo HD/S3 compared http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/mythtivo.htm AMD cpu help http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php |
