Hi,
I have a Panasonic TH-50PV500A 50" Plasma TV that is a bit over 3 years old & just yesterday afternoon it has started this problem. It has rolling blue 'staticish' horizontal lines going from the top to the bottom. I have unplugged everything to see if it is one of the appliances/leads that we use with it, but even when it has the antennae unplugged it still has the lines (but not on the HDMI input, but I don't have anything connected through the HDMI?). I put it in the PIP mode, and weirdly enough, the 2nd picture does not have the rolling lines?? I have googled the problem & another post who had exactly the same problem, but it didn't have a solution. But he had posted a Youtube video showing the problem, and because it is exactly the same as ours, I thought I would include the link to show it better than I can explain what I am talking about - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTfduCtARAs. (I hope you don't mind, Bryce) I have a STB, HDD/DVD Recorder and a PS2 hooked up to it all using normal RCA cables which hasn't been a problem before this. Has anyone else had this problem & knows the solution?? url:http://myreader.co.uk/gp/1243-1.aspx |

"Brian Gaff" wrote in message om... I imagine the set was quite expensive and arguably, one would expect more than three years of normal use out of it. I'd certainly attempt to get the retailer to fund at least part of the repair cost on this I think. sounds like it could be something weird getting into part of the circuitry, and it might be best to find it now, before something really bad happens. Just my thoughts. Brian -- Brian Gaff - Note:- In order to reduce spam, any email without 'Brian Gaff' in the display name may be lost. Blind user, so no pictures please! Authorised repairer had set for about 6 weeks, replaced a B board? or something like that, cost about £200, Panasonic would not help with the repair costs. Only recently got it back from repair. There's more to the story, but that's the just of it. -- Bryce Whiteford |

Well if one could build up a story that its a common fault or faulty
manufacture, you might get more co-operation. I'd imagine Panasonic to be a bit wary of everyone and his dog claiming full costs for ordinary wear and tear so, it isprobably why they are wary, but in the past when things have gone wrong, they used to be very willing to help. a lot depends though, on the retailer and their relationship with their supplier I find. Brian According to the Panasonic approved repairer, this is not a common fault. I suspect this is why it took so long to repair. I don't want to go into all the details at the moment, but suffice to say a serious fault with a set just over 3 years old, that cost a lot of money at the time it was purchased, that took over 6 weeks to repair, had to be sent back again because of problems with the repair, came back to me a third time with cosmetic damage etc, Panasonic not willing to help with the cost of the repair etc etc ... Not what I expected of Panasonic, or their approved repairer. -- Bryce Whiteford |
