We bought a Toshiba 42ZV635DB and now want to add a recorder.

Anyone have experience with Toshiba Regza HDD/DVD recorders and if so which
model.

thanks

Yes. Ok if you really want one with DVD recording although the remote
is very cluttered but you would be much better with a twin tuner PVR
(Humax or similar). Much easier to use and twin tuner is much more
useful than you may think.
If you want to make the most of the set you could go for a Freesat
PVR and get the advantage of the free HD channels (and the ability to
record them.

We are in rented accommodation and the landlord does not permit dishes to be
installed. I also want to use the Tosh REGZA system for recording.

Ok, no dish then.
I certainly like the ZV series TVs.

I have supplied and installed several of the Tosh HDD/DVR (and many
others). I set one up at home for several weeks in my system. It
worked fairly well but in comparison with my Humax pvr it did not
offer enough, easily enough. The copy to DVD is fine if you need it
but I cant be bothered with DVD recording especially due to the
tempermental way other DVD players play back home recordings.

I have had one customers machine go stone dead after about a week and
one customer return his as he felt that the operating system and
recording quality were inferior to his previous Philips DVDR. He has
now gone back to his Philips and added a Humax PVR9300 to it.

Dishes? As in parabolic dishes?

Would one of these (Selfsat 120 HD) be permitted?

unfortunately not,

its an old barn complex which has been converted into 30 luxury houses and
the lease states NO visible satellite dishes or aerials.

So if it was not visible, would a digiglobe be acceptable?

Does anybody know if these actually work very well for reception?

I haven't tried the digiglobe but I have set up two or three of the
selfsat flat panels and they are very good. Sited in the right place,
no one whould know what it was.

Anyway, thats not really the point as satellite was just a passing
suggestion.

I think the owners/landlord means anything visible.
