Default No EPG on STB - any solution?

I must say I'm surprised that none of the Freeview text services
cover TV programmes any more. They presumably could be generated more
or less automatically, and would a useful supplement to the EPG,
especially for those with STBs that don't include a 7-day EPG.

Agreed. Presumably, though, this omission is not accidental. Therefore
there must be a reason.

I think the view is taken that the official Freeview EPG is sufficient,
after all, all *Freeview* receivers can receive it.
I don't think BBC Digital Text has ever carried programme guides for
that reason ?

BBC digital text (approx equivalent to analogue ceefax) used to carry
it(What's On) till a few months back. There must be still quite a few
people with older STBs?

I think it was a bit more than a few months. If my memory is working
properly (no guarantees!) it gave a one day schedule for every Freeview
channel.
