Default No EPG on STB - any solution?

Since ITV digital teletext ceased last week to show 'What's On' and my
Nokia Mediamaster STB does not display EPG, I have, uh, a problem. Is
there any solution other than to buy another STB or go online and search
online EPGs? TIA

When is your Tx scheduled for DSO?
I think you will find the ensuing 8k transmissions mode will make your problem academic :-)

Could you elaborate please. Not quite sure of DSO meaning. Am in London
region if that helps.

DSO, Digital Switch Over. That's when analogue transmissions cease, and
digital transmissions increase in power, Already happened in some parts of the
UK, and due in London Spring 2012. When that happens, the digital
transmissions adopt different parameters, that renders them unreceivable to
old OnDigital boxes, such as yours.

The 'EPG' you were seeing, wasn't the actual EPG that is transmitted on
Freeview, I suspect it was part of the Digital Teletext service that has now
ceased.
OnDigital boxes are unable to display the official Freeview EPG, beyond 'Now
and Next' banners. The solution is to buy a new receiver.

Thanks. Very clear explanation.

Yes, BUT NOT YET! Anything in the shops at the moment won't be DVB-T2
compatible which means you won't get the HD channels on Freeview. There
aren't many such channels yet, but I expect more.

Yes, this is true. Though my advice would be to buy a cheapo 20 quid box to
tide you over until the HD-DTT thing becomes clear and settles down. There's
even less reason get a HD receiver if your telly is not HD capable.

Buy a Saturday paper that comes with a weekly telly guide?

I must say I'm surprised that none of the Freeview text services cover TV
programmes any more. They presumably could be generated more or less
automatically, and would a useful supplement to the EPG, especially for
those with STBs that don't include a 7-day EPG.

Agreed. Presumably, though, this omission is not accidental. Therefore
there must be a reason.

I think the view is taken that the official Freeview EPG is sufficient, after
all, all *Freeview* receivers can receive it.
I don't think BBC Digital Text has ever carried programme guides for that reason ?
